Dear Families,
I want to begin this week's newsletter with a serious concern; this week we have had two serious anaphylactic reactions which have been brought on by seeds in school. The team dealt with them well and we can share that the child is now ok.
As a result of this, please can we ask that, along with no nuts, that no seed products are brought into school. We recognise that this can be difficult, however the safety of our pupils is extremely important.
Products with Seeds In:
- Seeded breads and burger buns
- Crackers
- Some oat bars
- Products with Tahini- like hummus
Anaphylaxis is a severe and potentially life-threatening reaction to a trigger, such as an allergy. It causes the immune system to release a flood of chemicals that can cause you to go into shock — blood pressure drops suddenly and the airways narrow, blocking breathing. Obviously, if breathing stops all together, then this can result in death.
We thank you for your co-operation on this matter.
REMINDER:
